I saw a quote today from Christian Today …“Lord, as I look toward the New Year, be my vision so that I can plan according to Your heart and not just my own.” Oh how we need this prayer! Our “wanter” is broken! We want and want and want all the while continuing to do the same thing over and over, then complain we didn’t get what we want. Wanting, money but not working for it, wanting to lose weight but eating the worst possible foods ! Wanting peace but inciting strife with our words. Wanting God to speak to us without listening to his voice or reading His word, wanting Him to tell us we can have what we want. The best possible resolution is to purpose in our hearts to listen and follow Him more closely every day. To be willing to lay our lives down, give up what we “want” to follow His plan, for therein we find true peace and joy.
“Have thine own way Lord, have thine own way.
Thou are the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after thy will,
while I am waiting yielded and still.”
Hymn “Have Thine Own Way” Adelaide A. Pollard, 1907.
